• What we'll do
For the 2nd time this year, let's hike up Organ Peak!
This is very strenuous and hard hike in Organ Mountains, east of Las Cruces. Some say it’s a 10-mile hike and others say its 14.8 miles – let’s find out together! (Seriously, it's a very demanding 10 mile hike). If you think that’s nothing, don’t forget the 4,000 – 4,200 ft. in elevation gain.
This is not a beginner hike; experienced hikers only. Many of the difficult hikes we post are only 4-6 miles and about 3,000 feet in elevation gain. This one is much longer and has more elevation gain than most. Be ready for a long day!
Very scenic, tons of uphill, serious exposure; study the photos below. The photos: PHOTO SET 1 (http://www.meetup.com/jornadahikers/photos/24672682/412593972/), PHOTO SET 2 (http://www.meetup.com/jornadahikers/photos/26424342/)
You have to be in excellent shape for this adventure. Wear long pants and long sleeve shirt.
Typically, this group hike will take around 10 hours; we will try to finish in less than 7.
