Lets learn Grunt

Hi guys,

For this meetup we have our very own Leon Coto talking about Grunt - an amazing Javascript automation tool that will make your life better (or at least help you set up Backbone.js projects)

As usual, after the meetup we will continue to one of the local pubs.

* I'm still looking for someone to talk about Backbone Marionette, let me know if you have a candidate.

Lots of new stuff introduced that made assumptions about prior knowledge. As I'm historically a Java developer using Ant, all the NodeJS references and references to 3rd party libraries were a little over my head. I'd love to learn more, especially if this can be related to BackBone, Marionette, JQuery and RequireJS. I tried GruntBBB and was disappointed that I couldn't specify a different template (I wanted Twitter Bootstrap), then tried vanillla Grunt and was confused about how I could point to the very latest versions. I haven't given up on it, but it seems more complicated than I'm willing to accept at the moment.

Hi Rob, thanks for the comment.
We are planning to talk about Backbone Marionette and will certainly consider RequireJS (jQuery is slightly outside of our scope, but maybe we will touch the changes in jQuery 2.0 at some point).
Regarding GruntBBB, I've had similar problems before. I'd suggest exploring other Grunt templates (maybe something quite basic) and add the additional components yourself. It's not difficult once you get the hang of it.
PM me if you have any questions.

Good alcohol intake :) Seriously though, you can use grunt with just basic javascript understanding. It can simply help you managing your project better
