City of Music: Mos Def at Summerstage

*** No need to RSVP "No" if you're not attending ***

You may know him for his film, television, and theater work, but before his foray into acting Mos Def (now known as Yasiin Bey) made his mark in hip hop history as one of the top lyricists of all time. He's making a return to his roots and performing a FREE concert at Central Park's Summerstage as part of their "This is __ Hip-Hop" series. Join me as I check out one of my favorite artists.

It's going to be a hot show and who knows who may make a guest appearance -- Kanye? The Roots? Mos has had collaborations with most of the big names in rap so anyone could show up on stage. Brush up on your Mos Def-ology by listening to some tracks from his Grammy nominated albums, Black on Both Sides, The New Danger, and The Ecstatic on YouTube. I want to see you all singing along while you're bobbing your head!

The plan ...

Meet me at the entrance to Central Park on 69th Street and Fifth Avenue and we'll walk into the park together to the Rumsey Playfield to line up. The concert starts at 7:00 but these shows get crowded quickly and I'd like to get a seat or at least a decent standing spot.

Summerstage rules: No alcoholic beverages, glass, bottles, coolers, pets, bicycles, rollerblades, folding chairs, beach umbrellas, video cameras or tape recorders. All bags are subject to search. Beer and wine is sold for onsite consumption only and may not be removed from the venue.

The Kevin rule: Please DO NOT RSVP if you do not seriously plan to attend -- no flakes allowed! If you RSVP and I notice that you have a number of no shows or have a history of last minute cancellations, you will be removed.
