Community Day at Ho'oulu Aina (Volunteer @ the Farm!)
Looking for a truly unique volunteer opportunity right in the heart of Hawaii that gets you working with your hands and getting back in touch with mother nature? Well then you must experience volunteering at Ho'oulu Aina!
I went last month and had an amazing time working on the raised lettuce beds for the elderly. I've attached pics below.
What: Volunteering at the Farm
When: Every 3rd Saturday of the month, from 8 to about noon/1230
Where: Kokua Kalihi Valley - Ho'oulu Aina
3659 Kalihi Street, Honolulu[masked]http://www.hoouluaina.org/index.html
In the back of Kalihi valley, in the 'ili of 'Ouaua and Maluawai, the community unites creating a land base for health called Ho'oulu 'Aina. Children and elders of all cultures join to restore this land to health. As we work to heal the land, we find that we, too, are healed. Working together brings us closer to each other, the land, our cultures, and ourselves.
Ho'oulu 'Aina is a welcoming place of refuge where people of all cultures sustain and propagate the connections between the health of the land and health of the people.
