Paddle with the Manatees!!!!

TO PURCHASE TICKETS GO TO:

Leave winter behind and join us for a nice break.  If you have never had a close encounter with these gentle giants you have really missed out.  We will be paddling Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Campsites are reserved for Thursday the 2nd through Monday the 6th with a check out on Tuesday the 7th.

We have a lot of rivers to choose from and the final decision about where to paddle will be made closer to the trip. Some of the rivers will be weather dependent.  Rivers on our list include the Chassahowitzka, Crystal, Weeki Wachee and the Rainbow Rivers.

I cannot imagine paddling these rivers and not encountering Manatees along with many other types of wildlife.

You can choose to paddle with us all four days or any combination but the price for the trip is the same regardless of how many days you paddle.  If you choose to stay at the Chassahowitzka River Campground with us the cost of camping is included in the fee.  We will use commercial shuttles on some of the rivers.  Shuttle fees are also included.

If you want to join our paddle trips but do not like to camp, there are many very reasonable hotels in the vicinity.   However, to keep things as simple as possible, the cost of the trip is the same regardless of whether you camp with us or not.

Cost of the trip is $150 per person.  That includes guided trips, camp site and any shuttle fees.  If you need a rental boat, one will be delivered to you for $50 for the weekend and the boat will be transported to all the different rivers.

More details will be emailed as we get closer to trip time.  We are limiting the size of the group to improve the experience for everyone.

I'm not a camper, but at site like this, I could be! Campground was great and every river was a beautiful adventure. John was incredibly knowledgeable about the rivers and all of the wildlife which made the trip so fun. Most fun group of people too! Would definitely do it again!

Fantastic trip. I haven't had this much fun in a long long time. Seeing the Manatees and being able to touch them was out of this world. Thanks John and Clint for another awesome trip.

As always, Johns trips are safe, fun, enlightening, relaxing, challenging and always attract wonderful people! My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the one day we were able to spend on the weeki Wachee river. It is a real stunner! We'll be back for more next year! Thanks, John!

I have done a lot of trips over the years, both as a participant and as an organizer. I can truthfully say that I have never enjoyed any trip more than this one. The rivers and wild life were great, but the people who paddled with us made this special. It was a treat introducing the first timers to the Manatees. To me interacting with this gentle giants is like connecting straight to our creator. This was our first manatee paddle with Kayak Classes and Trips but it will not be our last!

What an incredible trip thank you John and all your partners for all your planning, efforts and patience!!! This was truly one of the best adventure trips I've been privileged to be part of and what a great group of paddlers, I enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you! I live in Smyrna and I'm always looking for other paddlers to go out with and happy to host anyone at our home for any out of towners that need a place to stay. Watch out for those racers now ya hear and stay out of the manatees sanctuary😳 cell#[masked]

I will like to head out on Thursday so I can paddle all 4 days. If anyone is interested in carpooling down there either Thursday or even Friday please let me know. Driving 8 1/2 hours by myself is no fun :-)[masked]

    1 · January 10

    • Patricia E

I am bringing my own kayak and have communicated with with another kayaker to carpool down. Let John know you need someone to ride with Shellie Sullivan or Mark Stevens they were both looking to carpool.

      1 · January 17

    • Shellie S.

Thanks Patricia- I will drive regardless. My SUV is my "tent". I do still have room for one person and gear. I can fit a kayak on top - but haven't done it before- so may need some expertise. [masked] if anyone wants to ride. Leaving later Thursday and returning early Tuesday- flexible on that too.

      January 17

  • Shellie S.

Hi all- I'm a newbie and super excited about this trip. I'm driving and leaving ATL Thursday afternoon and returning Tuesday AM. I have room for one person and gear if any one wants to carpool please give me a call. [masked]

    1 · January 14

  • Mark S.

I plan on leaving leaving early Friday. Looks like it's a 7 hour drive + stops. Probably leave 4 am to avoid traffic and arrive 11 to 12 midday. Sleep off the drive Friday night. Any interested in carpooling let me know. [masked]-2002.

John, from a logistics standpoint -- When should we plan to travel, setup camp etc, and I assume we plan to be on the water friday morning? Should we try to get down on Thursday? Thanks!

    December 28

    • John M.

Details will be coming in an email, hopefully next week.

      December 31

  • Rick D.

I'm a new kayaker. I have my own gear, but I've never overnighted before. My backpacking gear should be fine for camping (right?). Also, will I be able to handle the water there? How rough is it? I've done a few flat water paddles on the Savannah, but that's all. I'm not afraid of rougher water exactly; I just don't want to be the guy who held everyone up or took an unintended dip.

    December 25

    • Karen J.

Rick, John will be the best one to answer your questions, but to my knowledge these rivers are all flat water and your gear should work out well. Hope you can make it!

      December 25

    • John M.

Rick, you will be fine. Give me a call and let's talk about this trip. [masked]

    John,

    Ok I'm in!!! And I'll be bringing a +1 - he'll need a Kayak, paddle, PFD, etc. I'm pumped!

John, great idea. I've been on some of these spring-fed crystal clear rivers and they are awesome (but also 67 degrees on the hottest of summer days - so be prepared). Checking calendar now...

  • John M.

Hammocks are fine. Dogs must leashed at all times and you must have copies of their shots. Either paper or on your ohone. Last year lows in 40s highs 60s.

    December 9

  • Janet B.

    Also is Hammocking allowed?

    December 9

  • Janet B.

What is the expected temperatures? And is this a dog friendly campgroud?

    December 9

  • John M.

Lesleigh and Stuart, everyone is on their own for meals and camping gear. We will try to arrange car pools for those interested as we get closer to the date.

    December 9

  • Lesleigh E.

Same question so as Stuart. And do we need our own tents?

    December 9

  • Cindy Boatenreiter B.

I'm interested and looking at my cLendar.

    December 9

  • stuart l.

Hey John, I'm sure this is a silly question but I want to confirm....... Since we're camping we're expected to bring /supply our own meals, right? And we would carpool there do you think?
