Our friends at All American Kayak provide us with access to their skills training, which is structured as a series of five classes which teach almost everything required to obtain your BCU 2-Star Skills Award (http://bcuna.com/pages/Main-Pages/Syllabi.shtml). We strongly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity - you will find much more enjoyment in paddling if you, your paddle and your kayak can work as one.
DESCRIPTION - "This core class is geared toward paddlers who want to build upon their foundation. The focus will be uniting paddler with kayak while practicing posture, turns, bracing and tracking. Some paddlers may already have a bond with there kayak but this course is specifically to build trust with paddler, paddle, kayak and the water. The course objective is fine tuning the skills learned in our foundations class. This course is strongly suggested to every kayaker. This class is limited to 8 students so if you are serious please book early to guarantee your spot. Class includes instructional material and water. "
RECOMMENDATION - Use/rent a cockpit-style kayak rather than a sit-on-top to learn these skills. With rare exception sit-on-top kayaks are more difficult to learn skills with, though once you have the skills you can use them with SOTs.
