Sunday March 25th

Jeager Rd to fish camp park . This is always a nice paddle and a decent shuttle.
Most of the trip is protected by the shoreline. the only open water is Mud Lake, and that is for only a few hundred yards.”
Plan to paddle down the Yahara river to lake Kegonza. We can have a lunch at the get out point if you wish.

You are responsible for your own health and safety. There are no rentals at the boat launch. You may rent from Rutabaga or other outfitters in town. I no longer have an extra kayak to lend. I'll have a phone along but will turn it off when driving and when on the water.

This is a beautiful portion of the Yahara River.

Sorry to miss you folks. Upstairs folks kept the party going until about 3 a.m.; my awake-time for the day has been significantly altered. Hope it was a good time! I'll get out on my own on Lake Monona this evening, at least familiarize my kayak and myself with the water for the first time this year!

good morning everyone. My phone number is[masked], if anyone needs anything. See you there :)

Angie, Bill has offered to transport both my boats to the launch site. i will have a paddle and life jacket for you too. my cell is[masked] if you have questions.

Kathlean, I'll be picking up Julie's boat.
Sandra, I also would recommend the expertise at Rutabaga. The first thing they will ask is what type of paddling you anticipate doing. This will dictate boat length. Do you need a lot of dry storage space for multi-day trips? Is weight a major issue? I have a 14-1/2' plastic at 56 pounds (may be for sale) and a 14' composite at 43 pounds. Really nice but twice the price. Lots of other considerations also. Talk to other paddlers.

Thank you Kathlean for the suggestion. Just a heads up, Rutabaga doesn't start renting kayaks till May.

Kathlean, Ron Dennis has kindly offered to take my kayak and me to tomorrow's paddle, but thanks for your offer! See you tomorrow.

Sandra, try going to Rutabega and having them get you sorted out. They'll know what you need and they want you back as a customer, so they'll give you straight info. Julie, my Subaru Outback could hold more than just my own kayak, but I don't have any sort of rack--I just strap my kayak up top on its own customized blocks. Let me know if you have some sort of arrangement in mind that would fit on top without a rack, alongside my kayak.

I'm new to the world of kayaking and I'm looking to buy my equipment. Any pointers? Suggestions? So I can avoid costly mistakes? thank you

    Angelina,
I'm sure it will be fine for you. I'll see what I can do to get it there.

I am interested in cajun canoe, but I probably weight more than 150#. I wonder if it still works. Angie

    March 23, 2012

  • Chuck

I have an extra smaller Cajun canoe that someone could use, probably 150# max. , if we can get it there. I can tow it there if the locks/dam at Babcock are open to go thru. They may have the dam boards in now. Does anybody know?

Victoria, where is the take out?

    March 23, 2012

  • Julie P

Does anyone have room to load one or two extra kayaks? If not, we may have to cancel. Allen and I have kayaks, but at the moment our rig is out of commission so we can't use it to get our boats to Jeager Launch. We live in Monona, on Belle Isle (sort of on the way) and if it were summer I'd just kayak over from Monona myself.

Thank you John, that is nice of you to offer

    March 23, 2012

I could bring my canoe if someone doesn't have a boat and would like to canoe with me.

HI guys, Jeager st not road, is off exchange street. Easily missed if the foliage is grown up. there is a launch without a pier, sandy. We will shuttle cars when everyone gets there. Probably wait until 10:15 and then shuttle.

Angelina if you look in the original message, rutabaga rents kayaks, there are possibly other renters in town.

I am sorry, I spoke to soon, my kayak is already being used, I forgot about it. It has been a crazy week
