Learn the steps to become a safer and more confident paddler with assistance from some very talented instructors. You will have one free hour to learn safety, strokes, maneuvers and rolling. The program is free and all boats and gear are provided for your use. Just bring aquatic apparel, a towel and a lock. You may bring your own paddle, pfd, skirt if you wish. Classes will be on most Saturdays except holidays from 2:30 to 5:45 PM, starting Nov. 5 through March 3, 2017.

Nine people have gone on to become ACA Instructors through this program. If you wish, they can get you ready too!

Please contact the Program Coordinator, Audrey Jackson, for the volunteer booklet. Her email is: [masked]

This program is run by Lee Reiser, Director of Recreation & Promotion, ACA Level 2 Coastal Kayak Instructor. His phone: (914)[masked]

Hello. It is the first time that I will come. is it outside or inside? I understood that it is 1 hour. Does it mean that we can come at any time between 2:30pm and 5:45pm? 2:30pm is going to be difficult for me. I would love to come later. Thank you for your answer and understanding. Best

Please read the entire description - it is inside in a heated pool. 2:30 - 3:30pm is for Instructors only to practice. New students can learn from 3:30 - 5:30. Learning takes time so please allow yourself time to change and get into the water etc. The session ends promptly at 5:30 and we have to leave the facility before 6pm.

I will be a little late -- finishing a paddle at 44th street about 2:30, then will zoom uptown to the pool. Sorry.
