Octavio Alvarez will speak about "My Linux Experiences"
Octavio Alvarez is from Tijuana, Mexico. He volunteers for the Tijuana Linux User Group (what they abbreviate in Spanish as "Gultij"). He has given several presentations there, mostly in Spanish.
In this presentation Octavio will talk about the conclusions he has reached after some of his own experiences using Linux, or, more generally, Free Software (as in "freedom").
This is not a technical presentation, but more of a conceptual or philosophical one, intended to change minds to a more freedom-oriented way of thinking regarding software and technology in general. Octavio will try demystifying Linux and debunking some of its myths.
The presentation was originally intended for beginners and outsiders, but Octavio will tailor it for a more advanced audience. But of course, he will still cover the basics. Advanced users will recognize some of the topics, and will want to share in the conversation, which will enhance the experience for everyone.
Please invite students or come on your own. The more mixed the audience, the better.
