--NOTE: This group is not currently active. We started it last year when we were living in Seoul as a way to meet some new friends. (It worked, by the way). If this group really lines up with your interests, I would be happy to hand over management of it, just message me. Thanks!--
Literature can be such a powerful lens through which we discover more about truth. Fantasy seems to be particularly well-suited to these discoveries, but fiction in general and (gasp!) non-fiction can offer a lot, too. This group will discuss not only some works of C.S. Lewis, but maybe some Tolkien and other Inklings as well as more contemporary authors in the same vein. Flannery O'Connor's just awesome, so we'll probably talk about her, too. Orson Scott Card may pop up. Ursula LeGuin will definitely be on the list, and we might throw in some Harry Potter from time to time. The works of C.S. Lewis are not intended to be a boundary, but a general centerpoint for the literary focus of the group.
Regarding worldview, we will not exclusively be reading authors who write from a Christian perspective, but we will be discussing how stories and characters resonate with our own personal spiritual journeys, regardless of where we currently are on that path. We will have specific works to discuss for each meeting, but if it's your first time visiting or you couldn't get the book, don't feel obligated to read the book before coming. We hope to talk with you soon!
“Friendship is born at that moment when one says to another: 'What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .'”
― C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves
