Meet new people, locals and travellers, make great friends, practice speaking English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish!! Join us in GSM Terrace Hongdae, a language exchange cafe and pub dedicated for language and international meet ups. Our members are about 30% Foreigners and 70% Koreans. NOT EVERYONE is fluent in their target languages. All language levels are fine. Feel free to come alone and come late. Simply enter the meet up at the right time, pay 10,000won, and then you'll receive any TWO drinks from our menu. Our menu includes Coffee, latte, Tea, Juice, craft beers, cocktails and more :)

The atmosphere of our language exchanges depends on the day of the week. Monday is a bit more study focused and relaxed, where as Thursday has people drinking SOJU and it feels a bit more like a pub. We get between 30 and 100 people to each meetup. Generally, you will come into the language exchange and you'll be greeted by friendly staff. The staff will show you how to order from our menu and then guide you to a seat. Each table has 6 - 8 people. Every hour, we will randomly change the tables so you get a chance to meet new people. Find the day of the week below to get a better idea of what to expect!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR INTERNATIONAL PUB PARTIES.
We have International Pub Parties every Friday and Saturday night in Gangnam [GSM Terrace] and we have Wine & Cheese Meet ups every Sunday night. These are different than our language exchanges in that they are much more free, there are much more people, and there is much more alcohol :) There are no table changes and everyone is free to sit anywhere they like. The atmosphere is much more similar to a pub than a cafe. To attend the pub party, you simply arrive at the GSM Terrace (late is okay) and pay 10,000 won. You'll get any 2 drinks from our menu. You can also pay 15,000 won and get unlimited select drinks between 7 and 10PM. We also have FREE CLUBB ENTRY into various clubs in Gangnam, Itaewon and Hongdae. COMMON QUESTIONS
1. Is my LANGUAGE ABILITY too low? No! We have people of all abilities join and adapt to our meet up and community. The important thing is that you try to meet new people and learn new language, culture with an open and positive mind.
2. Can I come ALONE? Absolutely. A LOT of the people who come to our meet up come alone. The purpose is to expose yourself to new cultures, language and people. There's nothing wrong with coming alone. 3. Can I come LATE? Yes! You may come late. But, you'll be missing out on valuable speaking time! ^^ Of course its best to come early. But it's better to come late than not come at all~
4. HOW do I join? What is the AGE of people join? There is no age limitation, but our members are typically between 20 and 36 years old. There quite a few people who are older or younger than this. 6. What KIND of people join? GSM members are usually workers / professionals and sometimes students, and travellers. In any case, they are always positive and opened minded people. You'll be hard pressed to find negative people at our meet up! Sometimes 7. Ratio of GENDER and NATIONALITY? We put a lot of effort to balance gender and nationality. Sometimes there are more women, sometimes there are more men but it often averages out to more women than men. Foreigners are about 30% of the group, while local Koreans are about 70%. Hello Everybody!! These days Corona has changed our way of life! That doesn’t mean we can’t meetup with people from different countries. GSM has prepared online meetups for you to connect with other language learners. We have language exchanges through out the week. Please view the meetups by languages, schedule and hosts. Looking forward to meeting you! **YOU MUST PRE-BOOK HERE** https://www.hilokal.com/en/events/online/next/online-language-exchange-with-david ---Korean--- 요즘 코로나 때문에 친구와 만남이나 교류 모임을 하기가 쉽지 않아져서 코로나블루라는 말이 있을 정도로 좀 우울한 날들이 연속되고 있는듯합니다. 그래서 GSM에선느 온라인 모임을 준비했습니다. 진행되는 온라인 언어교환 모임은 각 언어, 일정, 호스트를 갖추고 진행됩니다. 일정(영어-한국어) 1. 데이빗과 함께하는 온라인 언어교환 (매주 화,[masked]) https://bit.ly/3esGuX2 2. 데이빗과 함께하는 온라인 언어교환 (매주 목, 20.0~ 21.0) https://bit.ly/2DcLAd3 3. 데이빗과 함께하는 온라인 언어교환 (매주 토, 13.0~ 14.0) https://bit.ly/2ABLL0N 4. 마커스와 함께하는 온라인 언어교환 (매주 일, 21.0~ 22.0) https://bit.ly/2VVLwoF *줌 이용 가이드 줌 열기 : https://us04web.zoom.us/join 줌 오른쪽 상단 “회의호스팅하기 -> 비디오 on -> zoom.us열기 ->줌 설치 안한 경우 설치하기 -> 모임 시작 1시간전 링크 받기 - > 미팅 시작 줌 링크 공유 개인별로 모임 시작 1시간 전에 카톡, 이메일, 문자 메시지로로 발송 함께해주세요. *자주하는 질문? 1. 소그룹으로 나뉘어진다는게 무슨 말이죠? 동시간대 참여자는 최소 20명이 될수도 있고 100명이 될수도 있습니다. 전세계에서 참여를 하고 있으니까요. 동시에 모든 사람과 이야기하는 것은 한계가 있기 때문에 전체 참여자중에 타겟언어, 레벨, 관심도에 맞춰서 4~5명씩 소그룹을 짜고 그 안에서 이야기하실수 있습니다. 2. 어색하면 어떡하죠? 그래서 새로운 사람을 만나는것이 신비롭고 긴장되는 듯 합니다. 토픽이 주어지고 언어교환을 목적으로 모였기 때문에 각 언어로 10분씩 토픽에 대해 이야기해도 되고 자기소개 혹은 참여자분들에게 궁금한 점들을 질문하다 보면 어느새 1시간이 훌쩍 가있더라구요. 고민하지 마세요. 생각보다 재미납니다! 3. 줌 링크는 언제 받을수 있나요? 이벤트(일정, 시간, 호스트, 프로그램)를 확인하고 결제하면 알림메시지를 받게됩니다. 줌 링크는 이벤트 시작 1시간 전에 카톡, 이메일, 문자 메시지로 발송됩니다. 이곳으로 로그인하시면 됩니다. 호스트가 승인하면 바로 조인할수 있습니다. 4. 프로그램은요? 20분마다 로테이션이 되며 중간마다 호스트가 나와서 토픽 소개, 운영 방법 등 간략히 원활한 운영을 위해 진행을 해줄거에요. 5. 비디오 채팅 셋팅은요? 줌은 셋팅이 매우 간단해요. 처음 한번 설치, 가입만 하면 언제든 사용하실수 있어요. 필수적으로 와이파이 연결, 조용한 곳에 위치해주세요(카페, 공공장소)는 타인의 잡음때문에 모임 진행이 어려워요. 1시간 전 링크를 받고, 10분전에는 미리 들어와서 스피커, 마이크, 비디오 등 테스트 해볼것을 추천드립니다. 6. 노트북 vs 스마트폰 둘다 가능합니다. 하지만 원활한 연결 유지와 조작의 편리함을 위해서는 노트북을 추천드려요. 7. 늦으면 어떡하죠? 괜찮아요. 최대한 빨리 조인해주세요. 소그룹으로 중간에 입장 시켜 드릴게요. 8. 영어 혹은 다른 외국어를 못하면 어떡하죠? 10분은 한국어, 10분은 영어를 사용하면 외국어에 대한 부담이 많이 줄거에요. 그리고 듣는것도 도움이 많이 되는거 아시죠? 사려깊에 듣고 공감해주는 능력이야말로 대화의 중요한 기본자세요. 9. 온라인 언어교환 모임 과연 재미있을까요? 코로나 기간 실제 만남을 갖는 모임이 줄어들다 보니 온라인 모임 매우 흥미롭고 재미있더라구요. 한번, 두번 하고 나니 계속 생각나고 또하고 싶고 그래요. 무엇보다 언어교환 모임은 언어에 도움이 되고 전세계 사람을 거리와 상관 없이 만나니까 여행하는 느낌이 날 정도에요. 앞으로 1000명이 동시에 접속해서 내가 찾는 언어 파트너, 맘에 드는 분을 만날걸 생각하니 더 기대가 됩니다. 10. 복잡할까요? 신청, 셋팅, 참여, 대화하기, 리뷴남기기 어느하나 복잡한게 없어요. 아직 한번도 안해봐서 부담 스럽다면 전세계인 1000명을 만나서 영어를 할 기대감을 가지고 도전해보세요! 감사합니다. **YOU MUST PRE-BOOK HERE** https://www.hilokal.com/en/events/online/next/online-language-exchange-with-david
