"The best way to predict the future is to invent it." - Alan Kay
We are heading nowhere due to the uncertainties of the present and future. Where do the uncertainties stem from? In near future, when wise men/women see the forest from outside, we may find this present time was a transition of industries handing over the baton from the 3rd wave to the 4th. We may find the answers from newspaper such as Wall Street Journal, Economists, Bloomberg, Financial Times, media and books. Let's find it together. We will create a discussion culture to promote dynamics in our thinking process. We will read and discuss at a cafe or a quiet place. Sometimes beer, field trip, concert, and so forth. All futuristic subjects are welcome. It could be machine learning, AI, Economy, business, stocks, industry, statistics, etc. etc.
We are futurists, frontiers, shy thinkers or provocative activists. Bring your articles, ideas, and let's start discussing on it.
Open to everyone: no restrictions over gender, age, education, ethnicity, marriage, etc. etc. Regardless of your status, all teachers, students, job seekers, retirees, professionals, and so forth will have the equal right to speak. Diversity will promote creativity.
During the meet-up, we will discuss on whether or not the current economy is heading for a big fall and on what is the new rising hope at this dismal, if it is. It doesn't need to be extremely positive or negative. But we want to understand what is happening now, which would, we believe, shape our future. Let's share our thoughts together.
The articles to discuss will be posted on readwsjseoul.slack.com. To become our slack community member, please join slack first and email me and I will add you.
At last but not least, we want to create a community to get together.
Note that this is not only for native Eng speakers but also for learners. What matters is not English skills but your ideas.
Meetups are held at KangNam st biweekly.
