Welcome to Trail Running in Korea. Please read below if it is your first time.

This group is focused on running. Specifically, running in the mountains. We are a bunch of misfits who enjoy adventure and pushing our fitness while enjoying the outdoors. We are a community and would love to share our experiences with you!

FOR FIRST TIMERS/BEGINNERS:
1) How far do you run?

If you are comfortable running 10-15km on the road you should be fit enough to enjoy yourself. If you do not run try a different group. We are not hikers.

2) Trail running is steep.

Mountains are not flat. They go up and down. We run until it is too steep to do so (We run the flats and the downhills and hike the uphills). Everyone has a different speed and we all stick together. You will not be left behind.

3) Trail running is slow.

Because mountains are steep (see point 2) we do not run as fast as road runners. This means that trail running needs more equipment to be outside for more time, up to 6hrs of running and fast hiking (see point 3).

3) Equipment.

a) Water.
Most road runs don't need water but most road runs are not 4 hours long. You need to bring at least 1L of water with you. On hot days you will need more. (This can be bought at 7/11's along the route but sometimes is unavailable due to the run location, see point 3d below).
b) Food.
To keep fighting in the mountains you are going to need fuel. Dried fruit, nuts, chocolate bars, energy bars or gels. Your choice, but bring at least 2 or 3 things (when you come and start feeling tired that is your body telling you it needs some extra energy. So eat.)
c) Running shoes.
Normal running shoes are good for dry conditions BUT when you get hooked (coz trail running is so awesome) look at investing in more grip ( https://www.runnersworld.com/gear/a22115120/best-trail-running-shoes/ )
d) Running Vest.
Your water and your energy bars need to go somewhere. Hiking packs are too big and bounce too much while running. Trail runners prefer a vest ( https://www.cleverhiker.com/best-running-vests ). If you do not have a vest, don't worry a small bag with a waist and chest strap can work too!

If you have any questions on what equipment to get or where to buy it please feel free to ask us in the discussion.

4) Start times.

Sometimes it is early. Sometimes it is far. Always be respectful. Please make sure you know how long it will take to arrive and plan accordingly. We will wait no longer than 15min after the set start time unless you notify us on the event chat.

5) RSVP.

A lot of effort goes into making this group fun and exciting. If you don't want fun then please change your status to "Not Going" so we can plan accordingly.
