The San Francisco International Film Festival returns for its 56th edition, presenting 200 films and live events from April 25 through May 9 at venues in San Francisco and Berkeley.

For his performance in the coming-of-age drama "Juvenile Offender," Seo Young-joo became the first Korean and the youngest (14 at the time of the movie's premiere) to win Best Actor honors at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Synopsis: Upon his exit from a detention center, a young law-breaker meets the woman who gave him up for adoption at age 17.

    This is the kind of movie that gets singled out for its acting and cinematography -- and not much else. Seo Young-joo is physically and emotionally perfect for the role, and the premise is interesting, but the movie makes waste of its parts by taking on more melodrama than it can handle.
