Kyung-sook Shin is the author of many works of fiction in addition to Please Look After Mom, her bestselling novel which has been published in thirty-four countries. She is one of Korea’s most widely read and acclaimed novelists, and has been honored with the Manhae Grand Prize for Literature, the Dong-in Literature Prize, the Yi Sang Literary Prize, the Mark of Respect Award (2012), and the Ho-Am Prize for Art (2013) as well as France’s Prix de l’Inaperçu and the Man Asian Literary Prize (2011). Please Look After Mom was selected as a Best Book of the Year in 2011 by Amazon.com and reached the New York Times bestseller list. Shin has published seven novels, eight short story collections, and three essay collections. She was a visiting scholar at Columbia University from 2010 to 2011 and currently lives in Seoul.
