As part of the initiative to increase local food production the UC Cooperative Extension is offering Victory Garden Classes. Participants receive certificates from the University of California which can be helpful if you're interested in working on edible garden projects. These classes provide participants with the knowledge to start a home edible garden, and to be part of a community doing the same. The group will meet four Sunday afternoons from 3 to 6 p.m. Taught by Master Gardeners Mark Rice and Vivian Fortunaso with occasional visits from other local experts. This is a great opportunity to start a great winter garden and / or create the foundation for a great spring garden.
Our text is avaliable at the first class for $6, and can be downloaded / previewed from here.
There will also be a Saturday version of this class offered at the Altadena Community Garden.
