Happy Lunar New Year!!
It's the Year of the Horse, and if you're in LA/OC and especially the San Gabriel Valley, it seems you can pretty much go to a Chinese New Year festival every weekend. But every now and then, it's time to check out a different scene, which is why we're going with the City of Rosemead.
We will meet at Rosemead Library (8800 Valley Blvd., Rosemead, CA 91770, with main parking entrance on Muscatel) and then either walk over to Rosemead Park, or we may take a couple of vehicles over. More likely we will walk the several blocks, so be prepared accordingly. At the festival, we will check out as a group the merchandise, food, and other goodies, and enjoy the games and entertainment. Festival rides may be a bonus for some.
You can find the 411 on the festival itself by clicking on the "Lunar New Year Family Festival (http://www.cityofrosemead.org/index.aspx?page=13&recordid=1021&returnURL=%2findex.aspx)" link at:
or take a look at the picture way below.
1. This event falls during Presidents' Day weekend. If you are going to be out of town, please do not RSVP Yes...unless your out-of-town experience will bring you to Rosemead.
2. Please plan to attend for at least 90 minutes. You may fast through lunch if you really want to, as long as you stay alive.
3. You can do a +1 (Invite one additional guest). Since some people may be having visitors.
4. No gender ratio restriction on this one, though it would be nice to exercise the 50:50.
All participants need to be flexible. There is no admission charge to the festival, but bring $$ for food and drinks, and optional games and rides. Most likely we will purchase lunch/food from the assorted vendors at the festival. If for some reason we need to change eating plans, then our fallback is to go to Sunday Bistro, or possibly the Vietnamese restaurant (I forget the name) across from the library, towards the end of our time together. You don't necessarily have to eat lunch, but if we end up going to a restaurant, you should at least order a drink or dessert.
The end time is approximate and will partly depend on how the lunch plans go.
