Description

The Ben Overturff Trail is named after a historical Monrovian who made these canyons a popular destination in the early 1900s.  The reconstructed trail follows the path of the original through Sawpit, Sycamore and Twin Springs canyons.  The 3.5 mile hike is home to some of the most beautiful and undisturbed wilderness in the San Gabriel Mountains.  Nestled are several plant communities including coastal live oaks, canyon oaks, white alders, big leaf maple, and sycamore trees.

Parking

You have two options.

Option A)  $5.00 Parking Fee

Drive past the Entrance Gate and park in the lower lot.  Deposit $5 for Parking.

Option B)  FREE Parking

To avoid paying $5.00, drive to the intersection of Canyon Drive and Ridgeside Drive.  A big sign reading "Oak Woods" sits on the northwest corner.  Park below this intersection on Canyon Drive. From here it's a 0.6 mile uphill to the park entrance.

Thanks for hosting the hike, Moses! Here are two korean bbq places that are quite good in my opinion: Soowon Galbi KBBQ in k-town and Genwa Korean Bbq in Hancock Park. Good meat quality and but they are not AYCE.
