Peters Canyon Hike

  • This location is shown only to members

Please note that this is a beginner hike and we will be taking the hills at a slow pace. We will stop at the crest of each hill as we wait for the group to reconvene. The hike will begin on a flat trail and then we will make our way up to the ridge on a gradual incline. We will traverse a couple of hills and go back down to the flat trail. From there, we will challenge ourselves a bit as we hike up to the Reservoir Overlook. After coming down the hill, we'll make our way back to the trailhead on the flat trail and meander through a delightful creek trail.

Recommendations include: trail shoes, socks with wicking ability, 2 liters of water, sunscreen, a hat or visor, and a snack.

From the 5 Freeway, exit Tustin Ranch Road and head toward the foothills. Drive approximately three miles. Get in the left hand lane and turn left on Pioneer WAY (signal). Get into the right lane and take the next right on Pioneer ROAD (signal). This road will wind around Cedar Grove Park. Continue to the first stop sign and turn left on Peters Canyon Road (stop sign). Turn left into the parking lot at Peter's Canyon Elementary School.

Recommend park along the street close to the South Entrance to the park. Watch out for "permit only" parking areas.

As you drive in & half way from the elementary school to the trail entrance, on the right side there is a service road driveway. In front of the driveway is a posted parking sign. Any curbside parking in front (towards the park) of the sign is legal parking, anything behind that is illegal or only 30 minute parking. If you can't find parking there, park at the school.
