Topic 1: "Better Debugging in Python and Django" In this presentation, we'll review some basic (and not-so-basic) tools, tricks, and tips to improve your debugging skills in Python and Django. Speaker: Shawn Her Many Horses Shawn is a full-stack web developer currently in search of a new gig. In his free time, he likes to cook, read classic science fiction, or play guitar with his psychedelic-rock band Roosterhead. Topic 2: "Clean Architecture in Django" One of the age-old question in MVC frameworks is: where do I put my business logic? Many of us saw boost in productivity when we moved business logic from views to models. But that still leaves us with some thorny problems. What about use-cases that depend on multiple models? How can we test business logic without depending on databases? How can we refactor database schemas without rewriting business logic? This talk will explore a layered approach to writing apps that separates business logic from knowledge of views, models, request objects, or any framework-specific code. Note: My approach to the “clean architecture” is still very much a work in progress, and I hope to hear from other Django users about their solutions. Speaker: Ben Judson Ben Judson is a software engineer at Noun Project, where he focuses on building the web component of Lingo, an app that helps teams manage design systems. PARKING: We've been advised that parking in the building lot is crazy expensive. There should be plenty of street parking available, please use that instead! Contact: Marcel:[masked] Kim:[masked]

We're keeping it casual this month with our second (annual?) LA Django Meetup in a pub! Come by and enjoy the company of your fellow Djangonauts in LA Weekly's #1 "Best Beer Bar in LA". There won't be any highfalutin presentations or talks, just getting to know each other and sipping some sweet, sweet brew. We'll be giving away some awesome LA Django stickers too, and talking about what kinds of events we want to see in the coming year. See you all there!
