Functional programming enthusiast, slowly gaining more insight. I am playing with Haskell when I can, but professionally I have used Scala, Erlang, Smalltalk as well as a few of the mainstream languages.

How did you get interested in functional programming?
I was reading "The Pragmatic Programmer" while working as a Smalltalk developer.
The authors challenged me to learn a language that is way different
from what I've done before.
So I bought their Erlang book. While reading up on Erlang I also
discovered Clojure, Haskell and a bunch of other languages.
Are you currently using functional programming in the workplace, or are you just looking at it informally?
