NOTES: I live at the top of six flights of stairs. There will be a dog here.
It's the day Americans commemorate declaring our independence from England and winning the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). Actually we won that war ONLY with help from France, but don't mention that to any Americans or they might get upset.
Please join me for food, drink and fun. I'll provide the main course and ask you to bring side dishes, beverages or desserts. We'll enjoy fascinating conversation and hilarity until night falls. If you want to play games, bring games.
At 8:45p, those who like fireworks are invited to walk two blocks to the lakefront for the unofficial fireworks that local neighbors set off with much color, enthusiasm and squealing children. Those who avoid such things (like me) will stay behind.
PARKING: Please try not to drive because parking will be horrendous on this holiday. I live two blocks from the beach. If you do drive, allow lots of time to park and be prepared to walk blocks to get to my place after you park.
