Laravel Usergroup Berlin Meeting

Talks:

1. Changing Core Behavior in a Clean Way (Franz Liedke)

2. Unit-testing in Laravel 4 (Paulus Esterhazy)

3. Acceptance Testing und CodeCeption (Matthias Loibl)

Do you know something about Laravel or a related topic (architecture, tools etc.)? Then contribute a talk! Please let us know how much time you will need (e.g. 5 min or 30 min) so we can adjust the number of slots if needed.

Descriptions

1. How to adapt and extend the Laravel Core using Service Providers.

2. Unit-testing in Laravel 4 (Paulus Esterhazy)
Historically, testing has not been part of PHP's culture. However, the recent renaissance of PHP also brings in its wake modern development practices. Laravel 4 includes powerful testing features out of the box. This talk explores ways of unit-testing models and controllers as well as some pitfalls.

3. #description will be posted later#

Hey folks. An interesting article on how to build testable controllers without repositories: http://lutro.priv.no/posts/testable-simple-l4-code-without-repository-patterns

Good point! I'm just starting to get used to having static functions as facades all over the place 8-)

I guess. But I'll have to figure out how to export them.

      1 · January 16, 2014

    • Timon F.

A pdf export would be great. Maybe a zip file with the HTML, JS etc. would also work?

Thanks for the meetup. For me personally the topics were very advanced and a bit over my skills and knowledge, but of course - very informative and well done.

I would be very interessted to hear more about the RESTFUL Service from Laravel and how to avoid security leaks while building a REST API and using it with Ajax or something else. Authentication / How to implement OAuth, etc... That would be amazing!

Coole Leute, gute Diskussionen, guter Inhalt. Die Talks können wir vom Level der Themen her wahrscheinlich noch ein bisschen ausgewogener gestalten.

I agree: I found the talks understandable and well done, but also quite advanced. Some introductory talks would be good to have, tool!

Matthias (MetalMatze) suggested having a quick round of lightning talks about your own or favorite Laravel packages. I like the idea. Feel invite to give a lightning talk (a couple of minutes) at this meetup or at the next one after this!
