In the 12th century, the community of Villers monks owned more than 10,000 hectares of land. this walk that takes place sometimes along the stream, sometimes on the plateau is, all along, an invitation to enjoy the beauty of the places in all conscience HOW TO GET THERE Meet at Brussels Schuman station at 13h45 TO GO: Train to Ottignies at 14:06 then train to Villers-la ville at 15:05 . +/- 5, 80 euros RETURN: Departure from Villers train station to Brussels (6 euros 20) ALTERNATIVE: for those who have a car and according to the number of participants, we can organize a carpooling to Ottiginies or the meeting place (start of the hike), it will allow us to return later and if we have the time to visit the ruins of the abbey which are beautiful Contact me in this case to try to organize it LANDSCAPE : WOODS AND FIELDS: VERY LOVELY PATHWAY WARNING: the first two kilometers from La Roche station will be on a cycle path next to a busy road without shoulders Then exclusively in forest and across fields. Some passages are likely to be muddy or very muddy. Some passages in rough terrain and 3 fairly steep slopes PRECAUTIONS Don't be late as we can't wait for the latecomers For those who are used to walking 15 km or more and in rough terrain . I think it would be likely difficult to decide to go back home along the way Do not over estimate your abilities Given the floor on which we will evolve, take good walking shoes that are resistant to moisture with you Possibly take a lunch and enough water, the hike ending quite late. Possibility to have a drink in Ottignies after the hike NOTICE TO SPORTS TOURING AMATEURS When I organize hikes, I tend to focus on group dynamics, so I would ALWAYS adjust the pace to the slowest

Smooth Post Eloctoral Hike Tervuren – Leuven (19km)

Tervuren Station

Some of us will need some fresh air after the elections, others want to walk a bit after spending the week in the office, some want to see some nature and others…want to meet new people. And some just come for the beer afterwards. All of this you will find when participating in this hike: walking, talking, laughing, exercise, nice people, interesting people, single people, smart people, artists, sportsmen, beer, nature, …….. We will walk from the tram terminus in Tervuren (next to the renovated Africa museum) to Leuven. We will pass by some nice parcs, open fields, forests, small villages,…to end in Leuven where we will have a drink all together before returning to Brussels. ●●Meeting point: We meet at 12h00 at the station in Tervuren. Best is to take tram 44 from Montgomery to Tervuren station. http://m.mivb.be/line.php?lang=fr&line=44&iti=1 for people prefer to come by car: there is a parking space at the Tervuren station and you can return there by bus (De Lijn) from Leuven ●● Specifics: Distance: ~ 19 km Net walking time: ~ 4h00 Level: open for everyone In the unlikely case of too bad weather, we may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, we will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So, it is important to have access to either the Meetup.com website and/or your emails. ●● What to bring: - warm comfortable hiking clothes - water (1l) and some snacks for the way (I love chocolate and small salami saucissons when you plan to share with me) - sun protection oil, a head and sunglasses OR a raincoat (please watch the weather forcast) - some money to pay Maikel a drink ;-) ●● Basic rules: Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows even worse. Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the roster (i.e. Yes RSVP, but not Wait Listed). ●● Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability: You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability.
