Human Value – What Is It Worth?

I can’t help feeling helpless watching thousands of people around the world dying and suffering from being in war zones, poverty and injustice.

How do we begin to understand what life is like for these people?  How do we understand what it is like for those having loved ones in these places, when they tell us about it with tears in their eyes?  What can we do to support our friends and families going through this?

How does religion and politics aid or enflame the situation?

Is there some implicit meaning or purpose towards understanding human behaviour, worth and/or development?

    Hi
Thank you for coming tonight and participating. I loved our discussion. I didn't anticipate it would go where it did, but that's the beauty of these groups I think; sharing thoughts, opinions and perspectives; seeing a topic from different angles, having different objectives, beliefs, feelings, and leaving wondering how and why that came about.
I hope those less vocal than others were stimulated also by the discussion and felt they had a chance to voice thier opinions too. I welcome your feedback and/or suggestions.
    Cheers!

    Hi everyone
It's pretty wet out there, but hope you will still be able to make it along tonight...safe driving.
I thought we could start the discussion at 7.15 to give a little time for everyone to arrive, settle in and do introductions.
We will start off by laying down some group rules around respect for each ones's opinion, not dominating the discussion so others can share etc.
Then we will get into it. I have a short brief to get us started.
Hopefully we should have a fun and stimulating night.
    Cheers,
    Gloriann

Hello Gloriann, yes it's a soggy day. I'm overloaded with work today and waiting on two late o/s calls but am still hopeful of getting across and joining in. It's a discussion that really interests me. Please do let someone else come if they are on the waiting list perhaps, in case I'm stuck here waiting for those calls?

An interesting question !...and the asking of it even more so. Our soul individualises itself to feel separate from all that it is, to experience itself in various ways. That individual aspect then chooses to experience itself in physical form and creates within itself ways to experience all aspects of a situation of life.

To that soul and its human aspect the choice to experience can not be valued by any external perception... and thus not by you or I.

Our interest, perceptions, action and thoughts are our experience ...of their experience... and can only be valued by us. And here lies the very interesting twist...by what would you value it by....to do so you will need to determine some level of judgement.

And thus it becomes an introduction to our own values and choices and is no longer about them or their experience.

As it never was in the first instance..

Wow! A very advanced way of viewing life indeed, and very much similar to how I see it. I think that our soul is patiently waiting for us to get in touch with it, in harmony with it, to familiarise ourselves with its agenda, the accomplishment of which takes a long time, or just an instant if one chooses to unite with their higher self. Once we're in touch with our soul and its agenda, questions like these will be dubbed meaningless by the fact that the answers will be very obvious.

Exactly my sentiments. I don't want to have to drive to Auckland for everyone of the Auckland Meetups! Lol.

    Hi everyone,
We have a room booked upstairs on the mezzanine floor. Go up the stairs and turn right and the room is right at the end.
Given that we using their space, and not paying for the room, I think it is polite to buy at least a beverage while we are there. They have tea, coffee, juice and alcoholic drinks available, and meals if you want, with a Monday night pizza special for $12.
    See you soon :)

Members should not feel helpless watching thousands of people around the world dying and suffering from being in war zones, poverty and injustice. I don't. I understand the root cause of all conflicts is separation. Separation breeds conflict. When there is an observer observed split (Subject-object) then we have lost oneness.

I try everyday to practice Oneness by allowing myself to be the observer who is the observed.

As long as humans follow a path of separateness there will always be conflict. The degree will simply vary depending on the degree of separateness.

    Love & peace, Geoff

Fantastic topic but I can't make Mondays. Has this group changed regularly to Mondays now? (Used to be on Thursdays)

Not change - expanded. I'm keen for other people to step up and run meetups. More events, more locations, more dates - variety is the spice of life
