The world of the Internet of Things has matured significantly over the past five years. Originally when I started a local group called @iotmpls, much of the most difficult work was concentrated around building out some of the architecture necessary to make devices talk to the internet. In the back of everyone's mind was this distant future where larger and larger amounts of data will be increasingly machine-generated (as opposed to human generated).
While the architecture problem has certainly not gone away, we are starting to lead into a new horizon which is encapsulated within the question, "What do we do with all this data?"
This Meetup is for a special kind of enthusiast - the type of person who is interested in IoT, who perhaps has been a fan but who perhaps has had this itchy feeling that with the rise of embedded GPUs and the continual pace of progress of computational performance - now is the time to concentrate specifically on IoT Machine Learning (which includes a bit of software to connect things up, a dash of high end computing hardware, and about fifty or so pounds of applications and domain knowledge within different industries to make sure we can commercialize this stuff and keep our industry running strong!)
