Ubuntu for Total Beginners Meetup - First Saturday of Every Other Month

  • Feb 5, 2011 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

An introduction to Ubuntu for total beginners. This Meetup is for new users who are at the "barely can work a mouse" level... who do not yet understand how to use Copy & Paste. smile

Seriously... This discussion is for total beginners.... who want to know how to use their computer, with Ubuntu installed, to do everyday common tasks like, how to:

  • browse the web
  • copy and paste
  • download and upload pictures and files
  • basics of internet privacy
  • discussion of the best ubuntu apps for common tasks
  • problems and troubleshooting (bring your laptop or tower, if you dare wink )

If you're not a TOTAL beginner, we guarantee that you're going to be totally bored at this meetup. This meetup may be for your Mom... or your Brother-in-Law George. wink

We seriously will be teaching people how to use Copy & Paste successfully... using Ubuntu.

And things like... How to get that photo of yourself that your friend emailed to you... up to your match.com profile.

Hello all! Sorry I'm late in replying... glad to hear that 10.04 worked! Strange that 10.10 didn't, but presumably the next release will fix whatever was broken.

I enjoyed the Meetup, and look forward to futures ones.

This meetup was great! You guys Rock! :-)

I was the least knowledgeable person there, I think...

Amy, after we read in the Forums that Ubuntu 10.04 installs fine on that laptop.... I tried installing 10.04 and it worked perfectly...

Go figure! :-) See you all again soon I hope! 1st Saturday of every other month... so April 2.

I am bringing "The Official Ubuntu Book (5th edition)", sponsored by Canonical. I also have a bunch of Ubuntu stickers and CDs for people who come to the event. See you guys there!

If you use most of the Debian/Ubuntu based distros you could still attend and get still get something out of it. Which distro do you use?

I agree with Sean, any way to move this to a week night? I'd even do a Friday night.
