RUFF (Rescues United For Fun) Small-Dog Meetup

  • to
  • Crissy Field

1199 East Beach, San Francisco, CA (map)

    37.806198 -122.449181

  • We meet at the concrete benches at the far east side of the grassy airfield (they sort of separate the marsh area from the grassy area, across from Sports Basement).
  • NOTE: Due to coyote activity in Pine Lake Park, we moved RUFF to Crissy Field.

Please meet us at the concrete benches at the far east side of the grassy airfield (they sort of separate the marsh area from the grassy area, across from Sports Basement [you can park for free in the Sports Basement parking lot, which is almost across the street from where we meet]; see map). Click here for a PDF that shows where we meet.

Crissy Field is wonderful for off-leash play, but it is not enclosed. So, if you aren't comfortable with your dog's recall, please come with a long line (30 or 50 feet is perfect — NOT a retractable), so your dog and all the RUFFians can enjoy playing and running safely.

    ********

Calling San Francisco's SMALL rescue dogs for a meetup on the first SUNDAY of each month at 11:30 am.

If you have a small rescue dog and want to meet other rescues and their parents, please join us for off-leash play and schmoozing.

Don't worry if your dog is quirky; ours are, too!

RUFF co-organizer Shannon Bolt of The Domestic Animal has worked with shelter and rescue dogs for years. She specializes in special-needs animals.

This meetup is for SMALL DOGS UP TO 25 POUNDS ONLY (or who should weigh less than 25 pounds!) — the mutt-ier, the better; but we won't discriminate against purebreds — and their adult people (this is NOT the place for children; many small dogs, especially those with issues, are afraid of kids) are welcome. Please remember to give all the dogs their "space" and ask before giving treats. We'll have a great time!

We socialize for 20–30 minutes, then we take a group walk through the grass, so if you come very late, you'll have to chase us!

P.S. If you still take your dog to Pine Lake, please, please, please be careful, and keep your dog on leash at all times. Two small dogs have been attacked by coyotes in recent months; one was killed. This is why we moved RUFF.
