Bergen Peak & Jenkins Peak - Near Evergreen

I haven’t been to Bergen Peak for a few years. So let’s go, but also check out Jenkins Peak Loop which is a new trail. We will do Jenkins Peak first…it’s only about 3.5 miles and 600 ft elev gain. Thereafter we’ll do the much longer hike up to Bergen Peak. Plan to take a break at Bergen Peak.
Difficulty: about 13.5 miles with about 2600 feet elevation gain.
HIKE DESCRIPTION: Let’s hike to TWO peaks: Jenkins & Bergen Peaks where we will take in views from the summits of the surrounding Colorado foothills, western mountains, and eastern plains. We will do the following two hikes in Alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/jenkins-peak-2

DOGS ALLOWED IF FOLLOW RULES: Allowed on a leash. Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement.
ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Elk Meadow Park Stagecoach Trailhead parking lot (NOT the Elk Meadow Trailhead off Evergreen Parkway). The Stagecoach Trailhead is off of Stagecoach Blvd. The address is 32281 Stagecoach Blvd, Evergreen, CO 80439. To get there, you can click on either of the alltrails links above and click directions. If you use google maps, you can type in “Elk Meadow Park Stagecoach Trailhead” for directions. There might be a new parking area on the left side of the road, but WE WILL MEET IN THE PARKING LOT ON THE RIGHT (NORTH) SIDE OF THE ROAD.
We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.

NO SHOWS: If you are a no-show to 2 hikes, you will be booted from this meetup group. So please change your RSVP to “not going” if you are unable to make it.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Water, snacks, layers of clothing, good hiking shoes/boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, gloves, hiking poles (if you find them helpful), and anything else you deem essential.
