605 Newton St, Denver, CO
Prerequisite: Must attend all classes starting Nov. 30. The 1st of 3 courses towards initiation in the Living Earth tradition of modern Paganism. Over 9 classes (2x/mo) you will learn about neo-Pagan beliefs, ritual techniques, and core practices, especially with those you'll find at Living Earth rituals and the community at large. This class, along with Course 2 (Dedicant Level) and Course 3 (Initiate Level) and personal work outside of class will enable you to receive a First Degree and become an Initiated Member of Living Earth should you desire it.
The course is suitable for people of all experience levels, including initiates in other traditions. We welcome both beginners and experienced people who want to deepen their experience of the sacred with others. PREREQUISITES: You must be active in attending Living Earth for a minimum of 5-6 weeks prior to starting the course, preferably longer. This means attending at least two full or new moons as well as Samhain, and that you have attended at least 5-10 Living Earth rituals, meetings, discussion groups, or other functions prior to the first day of class. We want to know that you have enough experience at Living Earth to know that you want to go deeper with what we do and to commit to a course of study with us with the goal of ongoing involvement.
In completing these three courses, you'll deepen your practice, develop close relationships with our community, actively participate in gaining knowledge and experience in the topics found in most Wiccan first degree studies, plus the service leadership, community arts, and ritual arts that are unique to Living Earth. Living Earth 1st degree classes will be taught by the clergy and may include other Initiates and possibly guest presenters. All classes are participatory, include ritual experiences, and are held in devotional, interactive, workshop-type format as well as a traditional class format.
The total $75 tuition covers rent, utilities, printing, and other supplies, and is due by the first class on Nov. 29. No portion of any tuition goes to the financial benefit of any teacher. If you wish to sign up but not use Paypal to cover the tuition, please bring cash or a check.
As always, there is no required commitment after the First Degree member classes to continue however we are seeking to grow our group of engaged members. That being said, if you sign up for this course you MUST attend all classes (you can miss one as long as you make it up), do all the work, and receive teacher approval to qualify to take the next course towards initiate status. The classes are taught at a level for adults, and teens are permitted with prior approval of the teachers and a parent.
Classes are currently scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, except for December which is on the 1st and 4th Wednesdays.
