• Up and Running with Docker and Kubernetes

    Harmony Healthcare IT (New Location!)

David Mast of Harmony Healthcare IT will be presenting our talk this month. We'll look at what it takes to deploy code using Docker containers and scale them on demand with Kubernetes. Kubernetes takes your run anywhere container and provides a platform for automated scaling, no downtime deployments, and self-healing services (among other thigns). We'll demo these technologies using our experience working with a legacy, single-tennant, monolith application and it's first forray into the multi-tenant, service oriented world. Harmony Healthcare IT is our sponsor this month and will be hosting our meetup at their location. So come out for some pizza and beer with your fellow Local Variables! Please RSVP so we know how many people are coming. Do you have a talk or presentation you've been dying to give? Great! Because we're looking for speakers for future meetups! Contact us at [masked] or on Slack and we'll get you all setup! Hope to see you guys there! Parking: Plenty of parking. No special permit needed.

Automated deployments can be hard, but they don't have to be. We're going to take a look at a couple of different CI providers and show how to configure them to deploy Serverless framework projects to AWS in a repeatable and reliable fashion, so you can do the same without wanting to move to the country to become a beet farmer. “Publishing Python Packages” by Michael Barney If you’ve programmed in Python, you’ve probably had to run “pip install ”. But what if you want to have your own package that other people can “pip install”? Let’s take a look at the options you have and deploy a package to the Python Package Index (PyPI)! Logistics: Campus map: https://www.iusb.edu/portal/pdfs/CampusMap.pdf Parking: Event parking signs will direct people to the Education Arts parking lot. As long as you park in the designated lot, you won't need any sort of parking permit. If signs are missing, park in a lot close to the building.
