You are invited to our annual BBQ hike and picnic in this mostly shaded park. Bring your own favorite food/protein for the grill, and a side dish to share. BMHS will provide the fire.
Both BBQ picnic and the hikes are open to all, but only BMHS memebers are eligible to vote in BMHS ExCom election. To join BMHS as a member, please contact Fran Keeler at [masked].
The picnic will start approximately at 1:30 p.m. at the Oak picnic area in the south eastern corner of the park. There is a $6 park entrance fee per car.
There will be two hikes from the Oak Picnic Area:
The shorter hike of 10 miles, 1700 ft. gain, led by Sharon and Robbie, will start at 10 a.m.
Carpool for the shorter hike at 9:15 a.m. at Lucky supermarket parking lot, 2175 Grant Rd., Los Altos (park near Grant Rd. side of lot),

The longer hike of about 12.5 miles and 2200', led by Heidi, will start at 9:15 a.m. at the Oak picnic area. We will hike most of the Huddart park trails, with excursions to Phleger Estate.

Bring potluck dish, your own food for the grill, snack or light lunch for the trail, water, sun protection, hiking gears, dress in layers.

Both hikes will start from Oak Picnic Area and take Bay Tree trail to Zwerlein Picnic Area to pick up the Crystal Springs Trail. The shorter hike will take Crystal Springs Trail all the way to the top to pick up Summit Springs and Skyline Trails.
The longer hike will turn right to take the Spur Trail to enter Phleger Estate to pick up Miramontes Trail and continue on Mount Redondo Trail. It will then go left on Lonely Trail and merge into Skyline Trail after reentering Huddart County Park.
Both hikes will decent from Skyline Trail and turn left to Chinquapin. At the junction with Dean Trail, take the right branch of Dean Trail all the way to Crystal Spring Trail and then Bay Tree Trail back to Oak Picnic area.
