Chris Cohen used to be in Deerhoof and has played guitar with the likes of Cass McCombs and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, but now mainly plies his trade as a solo artist, playing cool acoustic pop songs pitched somewhere between Real Estate and Brendan Benson with a sliver of Beatles/Big Star slipped in there.
Yup, it is very 2010's, but I also think it's going to be perfect for a Thursday night in mid-summer, especially in a picturesque backstreet pub with wooden tables and plants out the front and back. Here are some sample tunes:
