Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993)

François Girard's filmic biography about Canadian classical pianist Glenn Gould was revolutionary when it came out, an anthology of more than 30 short films including micro-documentaries, episodic biopic scenes, interview segments and even an animated short, but no actual footage of him playing the piano. It's about the love of music and the creation of art.

Anyway, Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould got rave reviews upon release and is one of those occasions where you probably need a cinema sound system to do it justice. It also inspired a famous Simpsons episode and an Animaniacs segment, and how many arthouse documentaries can say that?
