How proficient are you in Chinese (newbie, elementary, intermediate, advanced, native speaker)?

Elementary

What sort of events would you like the group to organise? For example, would you like structured meetups with definite learning goals? Do you just want a chance to chat informally with other people in Mandarin?

I just want to practise my Mandarin in any way, structured or unstructured.

If we can get professional Chinese teachers to provide some group tuition at our events would you be willing to contribute something to pay their fees? If so, how much would you be willing to pay?

Under 5 pounds.

Are you using a Mandarin textbook as part of your studies? If so, which one?

I have read 'Teach Yourself Complete Chinese' and 'Chinese in Steps vol. 1'.

Are you currently taking a formal Chinese course? If so, which?

SOAS

Introduction
