Dear Steve,

Please leave your details on the google link. This would be a great subject area and I am sure we can arrange a few sessions on this topic.

I am gathering everyones details and will come up with a list of speakers/events/ideas.

Hopefully this will give us a calendar of really engaging events to run in the next few months.

Thanks,

Darren

Hello all,

Sorry for the radio silence over the last few days. I did set up a meetup group and had a small but good turn out to my first meeting. We were able to help a few startups with some really sound advice around talent management.

I will be looking to host another event in a few weeks.

The difficulty is firstly having a large enough community to present. Getting a good group of attendees is achievable (through here), my meetup group, my network and eventbrite but I would love to find people who are willing to help present. I am able to source small venues so if anyone is interested in helping in any way please get in contact with me.

I have set up a google form under the following link. Please leave your details if you want to help, learn or just find out more.

Please leave your details below to register your interest in helping at my next session

We can all get together and create a series of events which will help start up and scale companies.

I look forward to hearing from you all!

Regards,

Darren

I agree with Mario.  It would be good to see how Daren got on and if there is a way of hosting a meetup that is not going to break the bank.

I have been thinking of doing a meetup for a while that would be specifically focused at start-ups and small businesses where its only aim would be simply to demystify the hype and techie talk surrounding many of the current tech trends (hopefully) into something more easily understandable from a directors point of view and so the benefits can be clearly understood and implemented.   The format I have in mind would be a chosen tech trend such as Big Data, Cloud Computing or Machine Learning and a brief account of it in laymen’s terms (By me or anyone that fees they can) and then an open debate around the subject.  This would not be an opportunity for tech companies to pitch their products merely a group that has an interest in understanding what technology could do for their business and nothing more.

Many companies are not in the tech business so why would they burden themselves with even trying to understand it?

It would be interesting to see what this group feels about this as an idea.

Steve

Hi Darren,

I was wondering how did your effort to launch a new meet up went?

I am currently setting up a Virtual Offices start-up and it would be nice to hear thoughts on the matter.

All best,

Hello,

My name is Darren and I wanted to start my own meetup group. I think this group is fantastic and the requests for help are answered so positively.

I have my own ideas and am able to provide venues to accommodate meetups and talks. I also have links to larger multinationals who can provide free advice if needed. I have some resources to help startups and small businesses and generally want to create a community who will continually help each other.

What would be the best way to do this?

If I created a meetup group - what is the best way to market this and get entrepreneurs and business owners to join.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Darren
