Understanding Your DSLR - Creating Better Pictures

  • Jul 20, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Whatever your interest in photography, a strong understanding of the basics is essential to getting great results. Not only will you become more efficient and comfortable with using your camera, but you’ll be able to have a lot more fun creatively as well, and actually begin to use your camera to it’s full potential!
In this hands on workshop we will cover various fundamentals including:
  • ISO
  • White Balance
  • Shutter Speed (how to freeze/create motion)
  • Aperture (depth of field)
  • Shooting Modes
  • Composition
The session will include camera theory paired with the opportunity to apply what you have learned as you go by taking some great creative shots. The workshop is for Canon and Nikon DSLR users only. This makes it easier for you to compare notes with each other and to learn together in groups. Whilst we have an understanding of various makes and models you will need to bring your user manual as well. There will be time provided so you can practice and apply the skills learnt in this workshop.
And make sure you charge those batteries!
There is no waiting list for this event.

I have a nikon D7000 and need some advice and encouragement to move on from the D7000's "point and shoot" programmes to more creative uses of the camera. Ideally, I'd like to hook up with an experienced used of the D7000. Is that likely ?

I have a Canon G15 which has decent manual controls but strictly speaking isnt a DSLR, would this workshop be good for me?
I'm very interested in attending so thought I'd ask.

    Thanks!
