I was happily surprised about the caliber of the people and the panel Brendan had gathered. It was very useful, and I can highly recommend it to anyone with or without experience in property investing. ” — christopher vik (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/64483962/) on Nov 16, 2012. “ What a fantastic meetup! Interesting & topical content given by guests speakers and invaluable advice, knowledge and experience shared by members of the panel. I highly recommend attending if you have any questions regarding property investing or if you simply want to enjoy the company of truly successful Property Investors. I am only just starting out as a Property Investor and cannot thank everyone who attended for the advice and support I have received so far. Brilliant! Definitely see you at the next event! ” — Nina Johannessen (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/67197972/) on Nov 15, 2012. “ Fantastic. I always walk away with renewed vigour and solutions to property problems that I had not considered myself. What the regular attendees don't know about property at this event probably ain't worth knowing! ” — James Gallagher (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/64036182/) on Oct 23, 2012. “ 5 Star! Anyone interested in property investing especially in the residential market - this must be the best Network Event they could possibly attend. The quality and expertise remains exceptionally high, Brendan runs a small but perfectly formed event. If you're interested in property - DON'T MISS IT!!!!! ” — Alex McKellar (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/54817552/) on Oct 19, 2012. “ This is where the experts meet the experts! Anybody who is looking for a wealth of information will be surrounded by a wealth of knowledgeable and very helpful people. Everybody likes to be in a position to do business. However this is one of the least "pitchy" groups. More help less people trying to flog you snake oil. I like it! ” — Barry Danser (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/59806962/) on Oct 13, 2012. “ last night was great got so many answers to questions . great resourses , created a jv when home very happy ” — David Salmon (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/13885210/) on Sep 27, 2012. “ I have been to several investment property specific networking events and enjoy this as one of the best. It is a smaller group than some of the more popular meetups but I have met and learnt from some very successful and experienced investors with BIG portfolio's. One of the nice features is that the focus is on education and giving / getting help - there haven't been any up-sells (hard, soft or otherwise!) Great event :) Great people :) ” — ~craig~ (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/4259224/) on Aug 29, 2012. “ A very powerful and informative event where investors are doing real deals. If you want to learn how to be a professional come to this event. No hard sell 5 stars !!! ” — Landlords Journal (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/55823902/) on Jul 27, 2012. “ This is THE networking event for anyone 'walking the walk' in property. ” — Barbara Gwyer (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/11292406/) on Jan 13, 2012. “ This is a no hard sale networking event for the property investor wanting to mix with other like minded people in a non formal environment. Plus it's helpful to discuss any deals that you may like to bring to the table for discussion - as it can prove to be insightful in helping you move forward. ” — matt (http://www.meetup.com/The-London-Wandsworth-Property-Group/members/9923702/) on Feb 21, 2011.

Property Panel Chaired by Tan Tran Thor Portess Thor is a dynamic property developer and investor who sells and buys property in and around London. Over the last 5 years he has done more than 30 deals, using a mix of conventional strategies and new innovative strategies. A current project which is typical of these strategies is a Joint Venture development with a seller in Denham on a one million pound house. Some of Thor’s strategies and deals have been featured in Your Property Network magazine as well as Property Investor News magazine. During this time an opportunity arose for his parents to purchase a row of retail units but they were unable to fund this. Barry was able to loan them the money and help arrange refinancing – this was to be his first bridge! Some good investments followed, both solo and in joint ventures in the UK and overseas -his first flat bought in my early 20’s yielded a 150% profit in just 18 months. His own portfolio is currently predominantly based in Nottingham and Milton Keynes. One thing he learnt very quickly (after losing £6000 on his very first tenant) was that he really didn’t like being a Landlord. He was able to circumvent this problem by buying in joint ventures. Barry has been at the forefront of bridging for the last few years and currently am offering sophisticated financial strategies for both new and experienced property buyers. Barry works with a team of very experienced financiers, including mortgage advisors and ex-bank managers and together can provide a complete package from sourcing properties through to bridging and joint ventures. She is a self-made multi-millionaire and has amassed a number of high yielding properties in a short space of time. Bindar started her property journey as an accidental landlady in 1998, after finding herself divorced with a young child to support. At the same time she was focusing on getting educated and building a career in the legal field. She became an amateur landlady when she realised the potential of property, motivated by her desire to provide a stable future for her herself and her daughter. Bindar wanted to move quickly and become financially free and in the process she gave her power away to an investment property company who sourced “off plan properties” for their investors. Unfortunately these deals stacked up in someone’s favour but sadly not Bindar’s. In the process of becoming an “armchair investor” Bindar lost over £l50,000, her self esteem and confidence and put her family at risk. To finally becoming an experienced property investor when she took control of her life and got herself financially educated and has gone onto source property after property, and learnt a huge amount in the process. Combining her work as a successful lawyer and managing a property portfolio was liberating for Bindar. The accolades have come flooding in. In 2009 - Bindar was shortlisted for Asian professional of the year 2009 for her legal work. She obtained the following property awards: 2010 – National Landlords Association Property Women Award – London region 2012 – Landlady of the year – London Landlord Accreditation Scheme – overall best landlord of the year award. 2013 – Shortlisted for Customer Service – Landlord & Letting Awards 2014 - Shortlisted for London Landlord Accreditation Scheme categories for: Best portfolio landlord (20 plus properties) & Overall best landlord of year Since 2008 she has been inspiring and empowering others to also become financially free through property. She is a property mentor and speaker for the UK’s leading Property Educational T and Speaker for Robert Kiyosaki & Martin Roberts. She has mentored countless people on this process to enable her students to quit the rat race of a job and unleash their dreams with the support of passive income from property. Bindar in her spare time – she give up her time to provide free legal advice for her Local Advice Centre and the Domestic Violence Units. In her real spare time –she enjoys spending time with her family and also doing some crazy stuff for various charities including Make a Wish Foundation such as climbing Kilimanjaro, Inca Trail, running the London Marathon. From humble beginnings to award winning property millionaire. Bindar Dosanjh is living proof that you can turn your life around with your belief in yourself, perseverance and enough motivation. Panel: Barbara Gwyer, Ahmwaah Charles, Barry Danser and Thor Portess Ahmwaah Charles:- Ahmwaah’s field of expertise is in asset management, raising value and uplift, and the workings of commercial banking. Ahmwaah’s career in property began with buy-to-lets in 2007 while still at university, moving on to make his first London buy in 2010, which he refurbished and sold on. He has since worked on auction acquisitions, and collaborated on ‘subject to planning’ deals Barbara Gwyer I bought my first buy to let flat in 2003, and since then have built up a portfolio of 10 properties in south-west London plus two properties in Cyprus, an apartment rented to long-term tenants and a villa I rent out to holiday makers. I feel strongly that it’s important to focus on a strategy which feels right; with the exception of Cyprus, mine has been to buy within 20 mins drive of where I live, only own properties with 1-3 bedrooms and rent them on standard ASTs. I also run Skirting Broads, originally a painting and decorating company aimed at higher end clients in my local area but now involved in other aspects of property maintenance. Barry Danser I was born in the East End but grew up in North London. My training in business and negotiation started young when I had a saturday job at a street market. I studied Fashion and Textile Technology at the college of Distributive Trades and my first job was with a kinky leatherwear company where I helped to create the iconic Emma Peel cat suit for Diana Rigg in The Avengers. Despite this exciting start, I quickly realised I didn’t enjoy working in the industry itself so I joined a Japanese Corporation and worked in their business section. I loved this world and learnt very quickly that there was a big world of untapped opportunities to discover. I spent a couple of years travelling in the Far East honing my skills and just after my 23rd birthday I started my own West End textile agency with two partners. During this time an opportunity arose for my parents to purchase a row of retail units but they were unable to fund this. I was able to loan them the money and help arrange refinancing – this was to be my first bridge! Some good investments followed, both solo and in joint ventures in the UK and overseas -my first flat bought in my early 20’s yielded a 150% profit in just 18 months. My own portfolio is currently predominantly based in Nottingham and Milton Keynes. One thing I learnt very quickly (after losing £6000 on my very first tenant) was that I really didn’t like being a Landlord. I was able to circumvent this problem by buying in joint ventures. I work with a team of very experienced financiers, including mortgage advisors and ex-bank managers and together we can provide a complete package from sourcing properties through to bridging and joint ventures. I have handled all kinds of property deals as they come across my desk and over the last few years have amassed a wealth of experience of how deals can be done right and – more importantly perhaps - how they can go wrong. In the good old days of the closed bridge (now defunct) it was easy to get deals through that would not necessarily add up. Something I have never condoned but it did happen. Now the deals must stack or they won’t go through at all.
