The SOAS Iranian Music Society Presents:
"THE VOICE OF THE SANTUR CHARITY EVENT"
a multicultural santur recital by Peyman Heydarian and the SOAS Iranian band: Featuring Persian, Kurdish, Scottish and Greek music
We are back to perform a multi-ethnic concert to celebrate the musical richness of a variety of cultures and traditions beyond the borders.
Before the concert, there will be a Vitrai (glass painting) workshop by Parastoo, a 45-min workshop starting at 5pm for a limited number of people (Workshop fee: £50 per person)
This time, we will have an unmissable English dance performance by the "Tower Ravens", a group of young female rapper sword dancing team!
On the voice of santur ensemble, we have wonderful singers Mansour Izadpanah, Aysegul Erdogan, Ioanna and Parastoo who will be singing in three languages; Scottish pieces led by Ewan Macdonald; Cretan pieces by Vassilis Chatzimakris; and you will have a rare opportunity to hear world's only santur (dulcimer) - zanburak (jaw harp) duo by Peyman Heydarian and Deirdre Morgan! Part of the concert proceeds will be donated to the Omid Foundations.

Meetup members and their guests pay £15 while full-time students £10.
Before the event, we shall meet at 5.45pm in Planet Organic, 22 Torrington Pl, London WC1E 7HJ, and have a meal there. Then a short walk to the event at 6.45pm.
