Terms

TERMS for London Weekend Walks:

1) Our walking pace is just under 3 miles per hour. Please ensure you can walk from start to finish comfortably within the times stated at this pace. Walks are usually around 2 hours. I have a table reservation at the pub at the end of the walk so I stick to the timings. My walks are usually between 4 to 4.5 miles long.

2) If you arrive late for the walk, we may have set off as it is not fair to keep others waiting for latecomers. If you are late - please try and catch up.

3) You accept full and sole responsibility for your own safety. Please be careful especially when crossing roads and ensure you cross pedestrian crossings on the green man where available. You must be mindful of traffic. I take every care to lead walks along footpaths or on paths in parks and ensure we cross at suitable crossing points so there are no additional risks to yourself other than what you would normally encounter walking around London.

4) You are responsible for keeping up with the group leader. If you are far behind, I will try and slow down and I also build in occasional pauses but please try to speed up if you are at the very back. You are also responsible for keeping an eye on the group leader to avoid taking a wrong turn (yes, it happens and I cannot always send a search party!).

5) Please bring water / medicines / a snack as is appropriate for your own needs and please dress appropriately for the weather so you are warm, dry and comfortable.

6) There may not be the option for a toilet break during the walk so please bear this in mind.

7) I reserve the right to cancel the walk, or amend any part of the walk, at any time and without notice and without any liability to any walker whatsoever. (I don't recall a time I have cancelled a walk I am leading though).

8) If you join the group in the pub afterwards, please do not consume your own food or drinks in the pub which you have brought with you and not purchased in the pub (with the exception of water and anything you require for medical purposes). This is usually the rule of the pub in which we are in. As I have reserved an area or table(s) they do not allow food/drinks not purchased at the pub to be consumed.

9) If you bring children with you - please be aware they may not be allowed in the pub. The same applies for dogs. We have to abide by the rules of the pub.

10) If I take (or obtain) a photo of the group - if you are in the photograph you agree to grant me the right to publish this photo on my meetup group, including as the main group photo or logo, as well as publishing the photo elsewhere on the internet (such as on other social media - e.g. Facebook and Instagram) and offline in hard copy printed materials. You agree to grant permission for me to use any images in which you are showing for marketing and publicity purposes. It is also a requirement for all members of London Weekend Walks to have their photograph showing on their profile.

11) You agree to fully indemnify me (as the organiser of London Weekend Walks) from any damages and any legal action as a result of you attending one of the walks. The decision to attend a walk is yours and as a responsible adult you are responsible for any and all risks you may take. You agree that the organiser is not liable for the safety of you, or others, on any walk.

12) You agree and understand that participation in outdoor walks and activities can involve certain additional risks and dangers and you accept that you alone are responsible for assessing whether or not it is safe to cross roads, bridges, continue along pathways, lanes, roads, etc and that you do so at your own risk. You are not obliged to keep walking and can end the walk at any point you wish.

13) You travel to and from a meetup entirely at your own risk and the organiser of London Weekend Walks cannot be held responsible for anything that may occur when travelling to or from a meetup - nor can damages be claimed from the organiser.

14) The law of England applies. If any of the above terms is found to be not legally enforceable, all other clauses remain valid.

15) These Terms also includes the whole of Meetup.com's Terms of Service (available at https://www.meetup.co.... Members join Meetup and attend all Meetups at their own risk and cannot hold Meetup.com, meetup organisers or other members liable for any damages whatsoever.

By attending a walk you confirm that you agree to, and accept, all the Terms stated above.

The Terms make this group sound boring, but we are anything but! We are a fun and sociable group. I have to include these for necessity.
