For stand-out fiction you need compelling characters coupled with a gripping storyline. But where do you begin? And how do the two fit together? In this fun and informative workshop, author and creative writing teacher Allie Spencer will introduce you to the idea of the Four Act Structure - a plotting device favoured by Hollywood screenwriters - and show how it combines with your protagonist's character arc to produce a fail-safe superstructure for your book. A must for anyone writing or planning a novel.

Allie Spencer is the author of five romantic comedy novels, two of which have been shortlisted for the prestigious Melissa Nathan Award for Comedy Romance and one won the Romantic Novelists' Association debut novel award. She is an experienced tutor and lecturer, teaching both creative writing and English Literature and is currently completing a PhD on the eighteenth-century novel at Southampton University.
