Trail description:

Wildwood Park is a gem to explore.  On the north, the imposing presense of Mount Clef Ridge humbles us. Tn the south, Arroyo Conejo has carved out a V-shaped canyon over millions of years. In between is an endless span of grassland that reminds us of the old West.  Standing amid, one could easily picture a stagecoach running by.

Paradise Falls is at the bottom of the canyon. It drops 40 feet into a large pool along the Arroyo Conejo. Lizard Rock stands solitary on the western end. It is the distant landmark that calls out to hikers.

We plan to explore the entire park via Mesa, Santa Rosa, Stagecoach, Lizard Rock, Eagle Point, Wildwood, Tepee and Moonridge trail. In this hike, we will explore every trail in the park.

Direction Notes: If you are coming from the west side, I suggest that you take I-10 to PCH. Take PCH north to Topanga Blvd. Take Topanga Blvd north to 101. .

Take 101 north to Lynn Rd. Turn right at Lynn Rd to W Avenida De Los Arboles. Turn left at Avenida De Los Arboles and drive to the end. The park entrance is on your left hand side. .

  • Nancy F

Sondra, I don't believe you have said what time to meet at Ralph's???

    February 12, 2014

    • Jay

      8 am

      February 12, 2014

  • sondra

What Nancy said. To get to this side of the hill, if you are east of the 405, you can take the 101 (from Hollywood, Ktown etc) all the way, or Laurel Canyon, or Coldwater from Beverly Hills, or beverly Glen from Westwood, or worse case scenario, Sepulveda. See me if you need help

    February 12, 2014

  • Jay

Mike, due to my leg needing rest please pass my duties to someone else. IF I hike - I may have to take the shortcut home. Sorry. I want to be ready for the longer hikes later this month.

    February 11, 2014

    • Jay

Thanks Kate, Richard. It's my own fault: hurt my calf running in wet water shoes weeks ago, then pulled my hamstring trailbalzing. The long hikes seem okay but the tennis and mountain running did me in. I can't seem to sit still - and keep from re-hurting old wounds. I'll try to be there but may take the shortcut.

      February 11, 2014

    • Jay

Thanks, Mike. Had to look it up. I'll try it. And a massage!

      February 11, 2014

  • Nancy F

JUST COMPLETELY STAY AWAY FROM THE 405 THIS ENTIRE WEEKEND!!! THERE ARE MANY OTHER WAYS TO GET TO THIS SIDE OF THE HILL.
