A6 Condor Hike

A6 Condor Hike

Date:  March 29

Time:  9:00am - 12 noon

Distance: 2.5 miles

Difficulty: 3/10 Advanced Beginner

Meeting spot:  Mineral Wells Picnic area

We’ll meet at the Mineral Wells picnic tables near the upper Mineral Wells Drive gate (usually closed).  Park along Griffith Park Drive, not in the red curb areas.

We’ll ascend a short uphill walk on Condor Trail to Skyline Trail to the Glendale A6 peak.

This is a beautiful area visited by hikers and equestrians.  It is adjacent to the west side of the LA Zoo complex.  Many animals not seen in the zoo are visible from this back side.

We’ll then continue on Skyline trail and loop back to the Mineral Wells Picnic area.

It will be close to lunch time when we return so bring your favorite picnic item to share and enjoy the day in the park.

Things to bring:  water, sunscreen, hiking shoes, hat, clothing appropriate for existing weather, trail snacks, sunglasses, water, energy bars, camera, picnic lunch items.

This was a relaxing hike, beautiful scenery. Welcome to the first time hikers! The wild parrots paid us a special visit and we saw some California Condors in the enclosure. A great walk in the park!

I have a question... if it's only 2.5 miles, that should only take around an hr to hr and a half for a beginner, so does the hike including lunch mean that you will finish both by noon since it's posted 9-12?

    1 · March 27, 2014

    • Shannon A.

Ok, so your hike should finish by 11 at the latest. I shall meet you then.

I'm not familiar with the bus schedules from SFV. Does anyone on the west side know, or possible car pool?

      March 27, 2014

    • Scott H.

This is the first time for this hike. If all works out well it may be repeated occasionally.
