  • Yes. This is a Meetup post for New Years 2016/2017.

This year (2015) was the first time I ever went. And on top of that as a Meetup. Surprisingly it was epic.

And now I know the recipe for success. So I am now planning ahead to Dec 31 2016.  But there is a slight wrinkle. This year the Parade is on Jan 2 due to NYE falling on Sunday. This means there will likely be more folks there for the morning of. And that means all more reason to spend the night and be in the front row.

There will be a separate LA Hiking area setup. So this is the the Official LA Hiking Rose Parade Meetup  Yes. This is not a "hike." But it sure is basic overnight cold weather camping.

I have a location secured with power. Restroom very close (and without lines).  We will  be making food (rather fancy stuff too).  There will be propane heaters.   And yes, . . . I will bring my commercial espresso machine, grinder, and blender. So it will be Lattes, Mochas and Caramel Maciattos or whatever other concoctions get produced. As the date gets closer more details. But for now sign up and save a spot.

Making marshmallows or even S'mores and Jiffy pop while sleeping on the street? And you can't beat the price. Plus you get to spend it meeting and having real interaction with other cool folks.

This year I had the ONLY Rose Parade Meetup. So don't miss out. A bargain at twice the price!!!

We will also do game night and mixer type, group dynamics type activities.

By signing up you are committing to arriving between 12PM and 6PM  Sunday Jan 1st thru and till after the parade.

Can I bring kids? Yes. This meetup would be kid friendly in that respect.  However, I would recommend against younger kids. My suggestion is if you have older kids bring them but also have them rope in some friend. This way they will be more into it. Also on a positive note, . . . you will know they are not at some strange party unsupervised.

Can I bring a tent?  Nope. Only chairs . . . . bedding (sleeping bags and what not).

Will there be heat? Pasadena does allow small bbq's. So yes we will have several fires.  Bring your own too!!

I am sure there are plenty of other questions. Ask away!!!!

Lastly, . . . if you want to lend a hand at planning. Great!!! This is going to a be a group and collaborative effort.  Send me a note.

So what's the cost, and when does it have to be paid by in order to secure a spot?

    • Marc!

This are paid grandstand seating sold by the tournament of roses. They are 48 to 98 a seat. However the sidewalk is free. Parking is free if you find street parking. And that early there is plenty. A spot is secured by "staking it out." They allow people start making camp at 12 noon. I will lay out a generous area. And fill it with stuff. But then as the rest arrive it will fill the space I have set out. http://www.ci.pasaden... https://www.latourist....

iLedy, . . . . It is free. You will have to pay for any food we will be cooking, or other incidentals.
