Mindful hiking? Of course!

Imagine being surrounded by stillness, quiet, calm… trees, grass, birds, butterflies, and a trail running through it. All right here in, but away from, the hustle and bustle of LA.

Don’t know anything about mindfulness? No worries. I’ll cover the basics of mindfulness and lead you on two-mile out and back mostly flat hike through the stillness, trees, grass, birds, wildflowers, and butterflies where you can practice. BRING A CAMERA OR SMARTPHONE WITH CAMERA...we'll do a mindfulness exercise using it.

No special hiking gear required. Wear running or hiking shoes. Dress in comfortable clothes. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, snacks, and at least a liter of water, $7.00 cash for parking. This is an entry level hike, but if you are unsure of your fitness level, consult with your medical doctor before engaging in any physical activity.

Look for my magenta cap. We’ll meet at the picnic tables behind the first restrooms (near the first parking lot).

9:45-10:00 AM Sign in
10:00 – 10:20 Mindfulness instruction and practice. WE WILL START AT 10:00.
10:20 – 11:30 Hike, 2 miles with NO ELEVATION GAIN
11:30 – 12:00 More to take what you've experienced today into your life.

At 1:00 I'm leading a second (optional) loop hike past the waterfall and up to Skull Rock with 1,000 feet of elevation. ~5 miles. (

The park entrance is at the end of Temescal Canyon Road. From PCH, drive East on Temescal Canyon Road. Cross Sunset into park entrance. Be sure to pay for parking at one of the kiosks. If you get to the stop sign near the second parking lot, be sure to come to a full stop. You will be fined $100 if you roll through it (there is a camera at the stop sign). There’s usually free parking on Sunset and Temescal Canyon Road.
