Re: [louisvillegamers] Stepping down as Organizer

I'd hate to see something like monthly dues come back into play (not that I was around when they were in play) unless there were regular group get togethers that the excess was funding. Now, there's still some transition discussion to be done, but if/when Matt takes the reins, he's got the experience and contacts from running the Gaming Track for FandomFest to get demos, perks, possibly even some prize support going for whatever meetups might be planned, which any money in excess of site dues could help fund.

It would be nice if, like Jason was mentioning, we could get some regular demos going locally of games either folks might have heard of but never had the chance to play; games local folks just aren't familiar with; or play-tests of new/upcoming games (there're a few games I've funded on Kickstarter which I'm expecting play test copies of sometime soon).

Hell, with the Outer Loop Courthouse Jester tracked down long ago, and the renovations made to it over the years, you've got a free space equal or larger in size to one of the rooms we had for FandomFest - just need to get it reserved well in advance. Even with the issues I had way back, it made for a decent game day/mini-con.

Okay, I've rambled enough now. Not enough caffeine and/or brain food this early :) happy

Mike

(For somebody who's stepping down from the leadership position, I certainly have a lot of ideas for the future of the club, don't I?)

This only concerns Louisville Gaming Club, which is hosted by Meetup.com. What's really needed is someone willing to take over paying the bills for the LGC.

Mike will the full site meetup.com shut down all together I see they have .Net developers on the site as well? If every club is going to go down I might be able to help take over but, I would however need more then 1 person willing to help. I can host things from my business to keep hosting free but, My lack of web design is horrible. I can help take over some parts but, I think we should get 5 people together with different areas so we can keep this site alive.

Hey all,
I've decided to step down as Organizer of Louisville Gaming Club. When I took the post mack in March, it was a last minute decision in order to keep the site running for a while longer. At the time, I had no intentions for the site, and while I developed a purpose a month or two in ("Match the right gamer with the right game")... well, good intentions aside, I was just never the guy to give the site the attention it needs other than paying the bills.

The site dues are paid up through December 15. I'll be maintaining Organizer status until either A) someone steps forward and claims the job, at which time I'll transfer things to them, or B) Meetup.com closes the doors on December 30.

That's a bit over two months to find my replacement, folks - any takers?

Mike
