Please consider a donation to our March-April "Charity of the Quarter." The Palmetto House is a temporary residence for single women and families who are homeless. The mission of the Palmetto House is to provide a safe and comfortable residence and nourishing meals while assisting residents in the successful transition into the workforce and becoming a contributing member of the community.
Unlike most of our bimonthly charity drives, we will use a portion of the monies collected to purchase supplies for our May 4th volunteer efforts at Palmetto House as part of the Summerville Cares Day of Service. We want to build a pergola for their patio area and extend a paved path from that patio area to their building. We will also be serving breakfast and lunch to the residents. The Summerville Cares Day of Service is a city-wide initiative to bring together organizations to strengthen Summerville with meaningful service projects that will help those in need and beautify the community. It is a fantastic opportunity for the Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry to help others in need while demonstrating that humanists are good without God.
So far we have only collected a little over $400. We hope to reach $800 before the end of April. There are two ways to donate:
