SIG 3.3 Options for 2016 - All Dates Now Open

Hello SMC Members and Meetup members,

SIG 3.3 Multi-Pitch and Mixed Ice Climbing is a key training to prepare for challenging routes and expedition climbing. There are now two options for getting this training. These are the only SIG 3.3 dates for 2016:

  1. SIG 3.3 TRAINING ONLINE: This new option qualifies you to attend any SIG 3.3 free practice events as well as any SIG 3 club events and expeditions. 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm, held on January 28th, February 25th, or March 17thRegistration is $130. SMC paid members only. Training is held entirely online using a business class video conferencing service. Very convenient and time efficient option which puts SIG 3 credentials on your SMC profile and provides priority on any interest list.
  2. SIG 3.3 FREE PRACTICE: This second new option is held at Cascade Falls in Tahoe, June Lake or Lee Vining, depending upon conditions. 2016 dates are January 30th, February 13th, February 27th, March 12th, or March 26th. It includes training in technical climbing and loaner gear, and is also instructional just like the traditional SIG 3.3 course. However, instead of payment participants will be RSVPed from the interest list at no cost. Those that attend online SIG 3.3 training will get priority and anyone else who has qualifying experience can attend. Maximum 6. SMC paid or free members only. These are the best venues to learn this type of climbing and are stellar destinations.

Registration and interest lists for all these SIG 3.3 dates are open now! I hope this will allow more members to get the ice training they need to get on the peaks! You can view the lineup of all SMC training courses here.

Thank you for your involvement and interest in SMC.
