Meeting Tuesday: Parsing

From: JT S.

Don't forget that we have a meeting tomorrow night where Timm Murray will be talking about parsing in Perl. Here's the description:

Title: Parsing in Perl, or So You Want to Write a Compiler

After getting the scary terms like "lexing" and "abstract syntax tree" out
of the way, segway into a comparison of Perl parsing strategies for a
simple Lisp-like language. The presenter will make every attempt to
pretend to be a tenured professor of Computer Science, though he won't be
fooling anyone by the end.

Also, Mithun Ayachit had a cool idea about introducing a new thing he calls "Pick of the Month". Sort of like when I point out a new cool Perl module (or a bug in a Perl module) or Martin talks about some problem he's having with AnyEvent. Basically, each person is welcome to volunteer something new they learned recently. No big speech or anything, just a 1 or 2 minute ditty. And of course if you're shy, you need not volunteer anything.

See you at Essen Haus at 7pm on Tuesday November 20th. Or a little earlier if you want to come and chat beforehand.
