Flash Permablitz in East Bayside Neighborhood

Join the East Bayside Neighborhood Organization (EBNO), supported by The Resilience Hub, for a flash-style permablitz to give back to the community, clean up an underutilized space, do some soil rehabilitation, plant some perennial food and get the site ready for more food production next spring.

We want to convene as many people as possible for this blitz for a short intense burst of labor to totally transform, heal and beautify the site.  Join us!

This is a very unique and not-to-large spot right in Portland surrounded by residences that could benefit from a healthy growing space in their midst.  The site needs a bit of clean-up, weeds knocked back, some compost and amendments added and good old cardboard/wood chips sheet mulching.  We are seeking the donation of a few small fruit/nut trees or berry bushes to establish some plantings as well.

9:00 Convene and get briefed on the work plan and drink coffee:)

9:15 Get to work.

11:00 Snack break - check in on progress.

11:30 Finish and clean up.

Noon - Wrap.

We have been invited in by the neighborhood group and some of the residents to help in this way as they community begins to adopt the theme of "Edible East Bayside" for the next few seasons.

We will email registered attendees the location for this event the night before the blitz itself (but for planning purposes, it's not to far from The Resilience Hub office).

If you would like to receive alerts by text message of this and other "flash permablitzes" text to 23559 with a message containing: @flashpermablitz   Email Heather if you have any questions about this!

What to bring:

Wear work clothes/shoes

Work gloves, camera, sun screen, water bottle

Wheelbarrow/shovel/pitchfork/rake if you have one

A light snack to share on the break or at the end of the blitz (this is a short blitz so we're not doing full lunch)

I am busy Sunday and won't be able to attend but do have a stack of newspapers and cardboard I'd be happy to donate for sheet mulching. Perhaps if someone from SP or CE is going over they might pick it up?
